When we came to see Sydney this morning she was wide awake and looking around, it was so cute! She was just staring at everything with these big eyes and when a nurse came by she would stare at them as if to say "Hey I know about you guys, stay away from me!" She is not very often awake because her pain meds keep her sedated but they have been trying to wean her off of it a little so she can become more aware and take better breathes by herself. They were going to try to take Sydney off of her vent this morning but during her trial run she had a difficult time breathing and was taking very rapid breaths. Her nurse said that Sydney has had this machine doing all the work for over a week and so her muscles aren't used to working on her own, they said that they are going to have to do more trials and exercise her lungs. Maybe we can get her off of it tomorrow. Sydney also has a rash on her face from the antibiotic that she has been taking for the infection that she got when her chest was open. They will probably change her antibiotic and see if she tolerates it better. She is doing better when she is awake she doesn't get as mad as she did, I sing to her and read stories so maybe that helps to keep her calm. Her favorite song is "Your just to good to be true" when I sing it she calms right down, she also likes Nat King Cole.

Caralee, We have all been so pleased with Sydney's progress. We know that she isn't ours but we feel like she is. The updates have been so neat and we can see the progress (a true answer to all of our prayers) You are suce a cute family and we are so excited that things are going in a positive direction. Sydney is such a beautiful baby and is so lucky to come to such a loving home. Caralee, you are going to be such an incredible mother. Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. We miss you a lot, but know that you are where you are suppose to be.

I'm so proud of you guys, you guys must be very special souls in order for god to give you a special daughter like sydney. well anyways, try to get some sleep and take care of yourselves because you need to take care of her, and you won't be able to see her if you are sickies!!! love you all...
